I received my Bachelors of Science in Child Development/Family Relations with an emphasis in Child Life from the University of Idaho in 1992. I have been teaching for twenty five years and started the original preschool in my home in 2004 teaching 3 year olds. With increased interest and demand, I expanded into teaching a Pre-K class. Three years later I was able to expand further, providing early education to children in Liberty Lake and the surrounding communities which has enabled me to give families an opportunity to have the preschool experiences they desire for their children. Fall 2020 school year will be our 14th year at our Liberty Lake Children’s Academy location – we have been a great success due to the wonderful parents in the community and my incredible teaching staff!
I have 3 children of my own, Valerie 23, Asia 20 and Drake 18. They are the pure joys in my life that give the sunshine to my every morning - rain or shine. I am also lucky to be married to a wonderful man, Greg, who supports me in so many ways – I couldn’t have done this adventure without him. Greg is a mortician/funeral director with Holy Cross Funeral and Cemetary. I look forward to being part of your child’s earliest education experience. Welcome to Liberty Lake Children’s Academy.
Miss Bree - Lead Teacher
Hello! I am Breeun Johnson and this is my 7th year teaching at LLCA. I have four children, and I live in Spokane. I obtained my B.S. in Children's Studies and Psychology from Eastern Washington University. I'm passionate about teaching, playing, music and dancing. In addition to preschool and Pre-K, I also teach cello and Latin dance. In my classroom you'll find us exploring and learning together, and usually singing and/or dancing while we're doing it. I truly have the greatest job in the world, and I love learning with students, and with their families. We're all in this together! Welcome!
Miss Conny - Lead Preschool Teacher/Asst Pre-K Teacher
I was born and raised in Austria, where I graduated from the Federal Educational Institute for Kindergarten Pedagogy, specializing in Early Childhood Education, Child Psychology and Didactics, with an emphasis on 3 to 7 year olds. I have more than 18 years of experience in working with children of all different ages and cultures and taught at a local Montessori pre-school for 7 years.
My husband Jeremy and I met on a vacation in Hawaii and after travelling and living in various parts of the world, we settled down in beautiful Liberty Lake, close to where he grew up. We had our son, Sam, in 2007, who loved going to Pre-K at Liberty Lake Children’s Academy! My family enjoys the outdoors; we like to kayak, hike, bike, ski and snowboard.
I am excited to work with your children at LLCA, get to know them better, and help them reach their full potential. It never ceases to amaze me how much information our little ones can soak up and how quickly and playfully they learn in a positive and stimulating environment!
Miss Jenn - Lead Teacher
Hello, Everyone! My name is Jenn Sharp and I love to see the sparkle in children’s eyes when they learn new things. I’ve worked in children’s education for over 16 years since I was an undergraduate working in a childcare center at California State University. After receiving my Bachelor of Arts in Human Development I spent my first years of teaching at Long Beach Unified School District in California. Since then I have worked in Oregon, Kansas and Idaho including positions such as Kindergarten Teacher, Literacy Coordinator, Reading First Coach and Summer School Director. In 2008, I earned a Master of Science in Curriculum and Development from Newman University.
My hobbies include photography, traveling, reading and spending time with my husband of 22 years and my son. My son attended Liberty Lake Children’s Academy for 2.5 years and it was such a special and wonderful place for him to grow. I believe that every child is special, and with positive support, can grow into a life-long learner. In the classroom, I love to sing with the kids and make learning fun for them. I’m so excited to be a part of the amazing teaching team here and look forward to helping your child have a wonderful learning experience.
Miss Kathy - Lead Teacher
Hi, my name is Kathy Schaefer – or Miss Kathy as the children call me. I grew up in the midwest and received a Bachelor’s of Science from Eastern Michigan University in Elementary Special Education. After college, I moved to Las Vegas to pursue my teaching career and I taught in the classroom for over 13 years. I continued my education at UNLV where I received a Master’s degree in Special Education.
My husband and I moved to the Liberty Lake in 2003. At that time, I chose to stay at home with my children. My husband Eric is a physical therapist. We have two children, Ethan and Hannah. My family loves to ski in the winters and camp in the summers. We feel very blessed to live in such a welcoming community. I have loved getting back into the education field and working with children and have been at Liberty Lake Children’s Academy now for 9 years – entering my 10th year as Lead Teacher. I can’t wait to meet your children and look forward to providing you and your child with a positive and fun learning experience.
